About Enhancr

Enhancr is an open-source GUI built with Node.js and Electron for video frame interpolation and upscaling. It packages NVIDIA TensorRT and Tencent NCNN inference without requiring Docker or Windows Subsystem for Linux. It supports chaining interpolation, upscaling and restoration, with batch queue, trimming, custom ESRGAN models, scene detection and live preview. The repository does not include Pro version builds, and documented requirements specify Windows 10 minimum with a Vulkan-capable or DirectX 12-capable GPU.

Key features

  • Chains interpolation, upscaling and restoration processing
  • Batch queue for processing multiple videos
  • Trims videos before processing
  • Loads custom ESRGAN models in ONNX and PTH formats
  • Scene detection skips interpolation on scene-change frames
  • Encodes video on the fly without extracting frames
Best for: People processing video with AI interpolation and upscaling on supported desktop GPUs.
Good for
  • Pre-packaged TensorRT and NCNN inference without Docker or WSL
  • NCNN inference runs on NVIDIA, AMD and Apple Silicon hardware
  • Reads and encodes frames directly without extracting frames to memory
Watch out for
  • Pro version builds and embeddable Python environment not in repository
  • Minimum requirement includes Windows 10 and Vulkan or DirectX 12 capable GPU
  • TensorRT 8.6 requires at least Pascal GPU; older Kepler and Maxwell unsupported

Enhancr FAQ

Does Enhancr need Docker or WSL?
No. TensorRT and NCNN are pre-packaged without requiring Docker or Windows Subsystem for Linux.
Can I download the Pro version from the GitHub repository?
No. Builds and an embeddable Python environment for the Pro version are not provided through the repository. The project recommends the Patreon installer for the recent version with dependencies.
Which GPUs work with each inference backend?
NCNN runs on NVIDIA, AMD and Apple Silicon. TensorRT requires an NVIDIA GPU, with at least Pascal required starting with TensorRT 8.6.
