KeePassXC
KeePassXC is a free, open-source password manager for Windows, macOS and Linux. It stores passwords and other records in an encrypted database file and supports autofill.

About KeePassXC
KeePassXC stores logins and other records in an encrypted database file that you control. The free, open-source app runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and can hold usernames, passwords, website addresses, notes and attachments. Its password generator creates random passwords or passphrases, while groups, tags and search help you find entries. You unlock a database with its credentials, then copy a login or use the optional KeePassXC-Browser extension to fill website fields.
File ownership is the main choice to understand before switching. KeePassXC does not run a hosted password vault or its own cloud sync service. You can keep the database locally or place the encrypted file in a folder managed by a sync tool you choose. That also makes file backups and access credentials your responsibility: losing the database password or a required key file can leave you unable to open it. KeePassXC has no first-party mobile app, so phone access uses a separate application compatible with KeePass databases.
