About Monolith

Monolith is an open-source command-line tool and library for saving complete web pages as a single HTML file. It is distributed through its GitHub repository and can be installed with package managers or built from source.

Unlike browser “Save page as”, it embeds CSS, images, and JavaScript assets into one HTML5 document using data URLs. The saved file can be opened in a browser without a network connection and renders as it appeared online. Users run commands that take a URL and write output to a file or standard output, with options to exclude audio, video, images, CSS, JavaScript, fonts, and frames, limit asset domains, set timeouts, user-agent, cookies, and output MHTML format.

It suits people who archive web pages for offline storage and sharing and are comfortable using terminal commands and installing developer tools.
