About PreySense

PreySense is an open-source Windows utility for Acer Predator laptops, forked from G-Helper. It provides direct control over performance modes, fans, GPU overclocking, RGB lighting, display options, battery charge limits and a compact hardware overlay, without running the official Predator Sense application. Settings such as user profiles, custom fan curves and application state are stored under HKCU\SOFTWARE\PreySense.

The project is experimental and hardware-specific: it has been developed and tested on limited Acer Predator models, and compatibility with other Acer laptops is not guaranteed. It requires Windows 10 or 11 x64, the Microsoft .NET 10 Windows Desktop Runtime, and running the executable as administrator; CPU tuning needs the PawnIO driver, and keyboard RGB control needs Predator Sense service components installed. Because it controls low-level hardware behavior such as fans, power limits and clocks, incorrect settings may cause system instability or unexpected behavior.

Key features

  • Cycles between Eco, Silent, Balanced, Performance and Turbo performance modes
  • Per-mode CPU power limits (PL1/PL2), GPU offsets and custom fan curves
  • NVIDIA GPU core and memory clock overclocking offsets
  • GPU mode switching: Endurance, Standard and Ultimate, plus iGPU switch on battery
  • Automatic refresh-rate switching, LCD overdrive and refresh-rate color profiles
  • Compact HUD with temperatures, fan RPM, power draw, RAM/VRAM and FPS
Best for: Owners of supported Acer Predator laptops who want granular hardware control without running the full Predator Sense application.
Good for
  • Open source under an MIT license
  • Lightweight alternative to the official Predator Sense software
  • Direct control over CPU power limits, GPU clocks, fan curves and battery charge limits
  • Physical Predator key and shortcut support for switching modes
Watch out for
  • Experimental and hardware-specific; compatibility with other Acer laptops is not guaranteed
  • Requires administrator rights, the .NET 10 Windows Desktop Runtime, and extra drivers or service components for some features
  • Controls low-level hardware, so incorrect settings may cause instability or unexpected behavior
