About RegScanner

RegScanner is a small Windows utility that searches the Windows Registry for values matching the criteria you specify and displays all matches in one list. Double-clicking a result opens that location in RegEdit, and found values can be exported to a .reg file for use in RegEdit.

Compared with the standard Find function in RegEdit, the source states that RegScanner shows the entire result set at once, so the user does not need to press F3 to find each next match. It also searches by data length, value type, and key modified date, and it can find a Unicode string inside a binary value. The source says the utility runs on Windows XP through Windows 11 and that a separate download is available for x64 systems. Some options depend on elevated rights: the source describes an option to open keys in RegEdit without Administrator privileges, and a Run As System option for searching hives that only the system user can access, such as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SAM and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security.
