About Sherloq

Sherloq is an open-source digital image forensic toolset distributed as a GitHub repository. It is a personal research project intended as a companion for experimenting with image forensic algorithms from research papers and workshops, and as a starting point for people learning about digital image forensics. The author states that it is not meant to automatically decide whether an image is forged or authentic.

The toolset is planned around a graphical interface with multiple tool windows, a file and metadata inspection tools, and export of visual and textual analysis results. The README describes the feature list as what the toolkit will hopefully provide once a beta stage is reached, and notes that some functions are not yet implemented. The current code is a Python port that the author describes as still in progress. The repository is for tracking development and is not intended for distributing a final product, so the author warns to expect bugs, unpolished code, and missing features.
