Shortcast is an open-source, native macOS app that turns long videos into short vertical clips for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. It transcribes audio on-device, selects segments, cuts them, reframes horizontal footage to 9:16, and drafts captions for the three platforms.
Transcription, segment selection, and reframing run on the Mac, and video is sent to a network only when the user chooses to publish or schedule. It runs only on macOS and includes a separate mode for captioning existing vertical clips.
