About yark
Yark is a command-line tool for archiving YouTube channels. Users create a named archive from a channel URL, then use a refresh command to download videos and metadata and receive a status report of changes since the last refresh.
Archives are stored locally as a directory with metadata, video, and thumbnail files, and can be viewed through a generated offline site with per-video history timelines, graphs, and timestamped notes. Archives are additive and retain local copies marked with a deleted tag if videos are removed or made private on YouTube. It requires Python 3.9+, with FFmpeg optional, and has no built-in scheduling.
