About Canadian Biodiversity Information Facility
The Canadian Biodiversity Information Facility (CBIF) was a Canadian initiative that operated in support of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). Canada helped pioneer ways to improve the organization, exchange, correlation and availability of primary data on biological species of interest to Canadians, aiming to support decisions on biodiversity conservation, sustainable use of biological resources, and monitoring and control of pests and diseases.
CBIF and its website were decommissioned in 2021. The CBIF Species Bank resources — Butterflies of Canada, Brassicaceae of Canada, the Canadian Poisonous Plants Information System, Diversity of Oribatida in Canada, Ground Beetles of Canada and Moths of Canada — are no longer available. The remaining page serves as a notice of the decommissioning rather than a working data service.
