Nyrna suspends and resumes PC games through a workflow described as similar to console suspend mode.
Nyrna
Nyrna suspends games and applications, including their resource usage, as described by its project page.

About Nyrna
Nyrna suspends running games and applications and resumes them later, freeing CPU and GPU resources while suspended while still using RAM. It can be used for cutscenes, games without a normal pause option, titles that stay active on pause screens, and long tasks such as 3D renders, video encoding, and software compilation. It works on Linux with X11 and on Windows. Suspending modifies running processes and can rarely cause a crash, so users are advised to save first, and it cannot save state to disk for restore after a reboot.
