About OTPClient

OTPClient is an open-source desktop application for managing TOTP and HOTP two-factor authentication tokens. It has a GTK4 and libadwaita interface and can add tokens by scanning a QR code from an image file, the webcam, or the clipboard, or by entering the secret manually. Tokens can be kept in multiple encrypted databases, with cross-database search and optional grouping by label. A command-line tool (otpclient-cli) supports scripting, and a separate search provider integrates with GNOME Shell and KDE Plasma 6 KRunner.

Several features depend on the platform or build. Start-at-login is unavailable on some desktops in the Flatpak build, and start-minimized requires minimize-to-tray and a system tray. The --output-dir option is ignored in the Flatpak build.

Key features

  • TOTP and HOTP token support with SHA1, SHA256, and SHA512 algorithms
  • Token import by QR code from an image file, webcam, or clipboard

  • Command-line interface with table, JSON, and CSV output options
